Orange French Toast

Just basic French toast but with an orange-y twist! I love twists! Like when you're reading a really exciting book and then BAM! Plot twist! It's fantastic.

Orange French Toast
2 eggs
1/2 cup of milk
2 tsp of orange zest
Juice of one orange or enough to equal 1/4 cup
1 tbsp of sugar
2 tsp of ground cinnamon
10 slices of French toast bread (or regular 'ol white bread is good, too)
Butter
Syrup
Powdered sugar
Whipped cream

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, orange zest, orange juice, sugar and cinnamon.

Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt a tablespoon of butter.

Working in batches, dip each side of a slice of bread in the batter and then lay flat in the skillet. Depending on how "done" you like your French toast, flip accordingly. I wait until my French toast is golden brown and slightly crispy before flipping. Repeat this step until all of the bread or the batter is used up, whichever happens first.

Because this French toast is already fairly sweet, I don't usually top it with syrup, but instead use powdered sugar and homemade whipped cream. Yum.
